Mikko Hynninen is an artist who moves between the theatre stage, contemporary music performance and the art gallery. Trained both in the fine arts and as a light and sound designer, his career is driven by his interest in working with immaterial media, particularly light and sound.
Hynninen’s work encompasses performance and installation. He has collaborated to theatre and dance productions as a lighting designer, as well as a composer and sound designer. Outside of the stage, his work moves between architectural and virtual enviroments.
His latest theatrical solo works are stage performances that use sound as their primary material.These include Alphabets, a composition for the Helsinki Computer Orchestra employing twenty-nine laptop performers, Fantasy#1 for a Pornstar, a monologue for retired pornstar, and "Theatre#_", a site-specific performance for empty theatre spaces.
